From 24 to 26 September 2025, the 25th International Scientific Conference ‘Public Finance, Taxes and Financial Regulations in Times of Multiple Crises’ was held in Košice (Slovakia). The event was organised by the International Centre for Public Finance and Tax Law Research, the Faculty of Law of the University of Białystok and the Faculty of Law of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
The event was opened by Prof. JUDR Miroslav Štrkolec (Dean of the Faculty of Law at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice) and Prof. Mariusz Popławski (Rector of the University of Białystok).
On the first day of the conference, participants listened to national reports. Representatives of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary presented current issues in their countries in three areas: budget law, tax law and financial market law.
During the event, 47 presentations were given by representatives of universities cooperating with the Centre. The representatives came from foreign institutions such as Masaryk University in Brno, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Comenius University in Bratislava, and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, as well as Polish institutions including the University of Białystok, the University of Rzeszów, the University of Opole, the University of Zielona Góra, the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the University of Wrocław, the University of Warsaw, the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, the University of Siedlce, the University of Silesia in Katowice, and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
As part of the student and doctoral panel, a competition for the best presentation was held. The winners were awarded during the official closing of the conference.
The conference was an opportunity not only to present the results of the latest research on the subject, but also to exchange experiences between member states and to undertake further cooperation. One such discussion was held by Prof. Mariusz Popławski, Rector of the University of Białystok, who met on 25 September with Prof. Daniel Pella, PhD, Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, to discuss possible areas of cooperation between the two centres in Poland and Slovakia.
The next conference will take place in September 2026.
